It has been quite a week
at the Washburn house!
... and I have big news ...
---((I am the new ward choir director))---
Crazy, I know...
... and I am totally overwhelmed!
Haha I have no idea how I'm going to do it,
but I guess we'll just have to find out.
As nervous as I am about my new calling,
I have been involved with some sort of musical group
since I was about eight years-old.
Granted, I've never taught one myself before...
... but at least I know kind of how it works!
I'm kind of excited about being able to choose which songs we perform,
I've never been able to do that before!
So I guess we'll have to just see how it goes!! :)
Anyway...
on to my crazy, crazy week!
Over the past couple of weeks, Colin and I have had really bad luck when it comes to cars.
A few weeks ago, Colin's Intrepid broke down.
It turns over, but it won't start.
((We assume it has something to do with the fuel pump, but we're not 100% sure))
SO...
He borrowed my parents' massive Suburban to drive.
That lasted for about a month and a half.
Well...
On Colin's first day of school at CWI,
the Suburban decided to crap out on him
HALFWAY BETWEEN CLASS AND HOME.
at 6:45 am
In the freezing cold.
I wanted to scream when he called me and told me he was stranded on the side of the road with nothing but cold leather seats and a hoodie.
((I was already at work by then;
luckily my parents were able to go pick him up))
Our luck. Haha
The week was an absolute nightmare!
We had to somehow coordinate how we were going to
get Colin to school,
to work,
and myself to work
with only one car.
woof.
Luckily, my parents were able to fix enough of their cars to where Colin was able to borrow my dad's little black truck.
Ugh, it was just crazy! I was so thankful to be able to drive my own car again,
even though the situation only lasted about a week.
Ramola, I call her.
She may not be a sports car,
but she's MY car.
((side note: my older brother, brice, says that this car looks like something a "grandma" would drive. I had heard the name Ramola before, and it totally worked!))
*By the way, Brice, this car has never had a single issue in the 2 years that I've owned it... so there!*
So yes... it's VERY nice to have a reliable car to drive.
Maybe someday we'll be able to afford to buy another one,
but for now we're stuck with Colin's crappy Intrepid.
#poorpeopleproblems
The rest of our week consisted of
school
work
and LOTS OF housework.
((I honestly have no clue how you working housewives do it, haha))
It feels nice to have a clean house. :)
School is going well for Colin
I think he really enjoys it, which is good.
I am also starting my new assignment at work tomorrow!
((I'm moving from assisting Doctor-side to working in Hygiene))
We'll see how that goes,
I hope I can figure everything out quickly.
I'm definitely excited to give it a try.
Well, that's my update for this week.
Nothing terribly exciting,
but you can never always have an amazing exciting life,
right??
Haha until next time, friends.
ahhh the car troubles. oh those are super fun times :) been there. stranded-on-the-side-of-the-road and all. i remember that little black truck, and that IS exciting about your job! so you don't work pizza, but at a dental office? i always wish i'd have gone to dental hygiene school..
